The 2nd Regiment of the Italian light infantry appeared in 1805. The regiment consisted of 2 battalions, in each battalion there were 10 companies - 8 huntsmen’s, 1 karabiners’, 1 Voltigeurs’.

The numerical composition of a company: in karabiners’ there were 83 people and in huntsmen’s there were 123 people.

In 1806 there was formed the Royal Istrian battalion with 738 people in it. The Battalion participated in the battles of the Piave, Klagenfurt and Raabe.

In 1809 the battalion was disbanded and the personnel was transferred to the 1st and the 2nd light regiments.

In 1806, the size of the company had been increased. In the regiment there became 4 battalion of combat and 1 spare regiment. The number of companies was reduced. In the battalion there were appeared four huntsmen’s, one karabiners’ and one Voltigeurs’ regiments. There were 140 people in the company.

2 three-foot guns were attached to the Regiment.

It participated in the battles in Kolyuerg, Stralsund, Rosas, Kardade, Mulens deРе, Igualada, Wael, Klagenfurt, Raab, Hostalrih, Tortosa, Pla, Tarragona, Sagunto, Valencia, San Pelayo, Castro-Urdiales, Tolosa, Nivelles, Konigswart, Bautzen, Don, Leipzig, Lippa, Elsan, Chernuts, Mincio, Parma, Reggio.

The second regiment of the light infantry didn’t participate in the Campaign 1812.
