The Guards battalion of rangers was organized in 1809 like the most of the regiments of the army. The composition was determined in the amount of standing battalion (of 700 people) and one spare company.
In each of the six drill companies of the battalion there were 116 people. In the spare company- 119 people.
The Guards of rangers were able to wear shako and Carabinier company- bear hats with visor, green sultans with yellow tips and yellow cords.
According to the status the battalion of the Guard was followed by ranger’s battalion of the Guard Grenadiers of the Guard infantry battalions.
By 1812 the number of members of the battalion was increased to one drill battalion and one spare company of just 836 people. The number of mouth remained 6, but the number of personnel in each of the companies has increased and now reached 139 people. In the spare company there were also 139 people.
The Guard battalion of rangers consisting of 26 officers and 810 established men went to Russia under the command of Major von Pico. The regiment was in the 24th Division of Major-General Baron von Adam L. Ochs and belonged to the First Brigade that was under the command of Brigadier General E.Legra.
Together with its corps the battalion took part in the battles in Valutina Mountain on August 19, 1812, in Borodino on September 7, 1812 and on the Berezina on November 26-28, 1812 .
