The Elite Guard units. There were 2 regiments of doublesquadron with three companies in each.
By 1808 the number of legions already became equal to 3. In each of them there were 2 squadrons consisting of four companies.
The Gendarme legions fought in Piav, Raab and Wagram.
Also, these units passed the whole Russian campaign and participated
in all the battles of the Italian corps. In Maloyaroslavetz, Viazma,
Dukhovshchina and Krasnoye.
Several buttons of gendarmerie were found near Smolensk and in Stakhovsky forest.
Small button of the Military Administration of the Italian Army.
Buttons were produced by casting in a metal mold. The inscription on the buttons shows the belonging of a soldier to the military administration of the Italian Army. The inscription is made in Italian "ADMINISTRATION MILITAIRE".
Above the inscription there is a five-pointed star. Because of the absence of a crown on the top of the brim it can be assumed that the button has been manufactured until 1805.
The regimental buttons of the Military Administration of the Italian
army encountered in single copies, so it can be put R 5 according to the
rarity scale from 0 to 5.
Although in one place on the Brilevskoye field there was found 4 buttons
on the area of 3 - square meters. The buttons of bigger diameter are
almost never occurred. At the same time these buttons and other parts of
the ammunition are made of tin so they could just crumble completely
and be unavailable to historians and collectors. The officers’ buttons
are found only in single copies and their rarity can be evaluated only
theoretically.
