The Kingdom of Italy: the artillery and the transport battalion.
By the end of 1805 there were 2 companies of cavalry rangers and 4
companies of artillery convoy, mechanics and pontoneers in the regiment
of Dragoons and the regiment of huntsman cavalry. There was also a
company of miners and the battalion of sappers.
In 1806 the regiment of artillery, mechanics and pontoneers was
assembled as one part with two-battalion composition. There were 10
companies in the battalion. The coy consisted of 100 people. Each
battalion had 2 companies of specialists, mechanics, armorers and
pontoneers.
Already in November 1806 the miners and the sappers were combined in
sapper battalion. The composition was defined as 6 companies with 100
people in each and the 1st elite company of miners.
The company of foot artillery was formed in 1807 from engineering convoy. It acted as a part of Combat Engineer Battalion.
Two battalions of eleventh-company composition and a spare squadron
were amounted the foot artillery regiment of the Italian kingdom in
1808.
In addition to available companies in July 1810 there were formed the
seven regiments of artillery coastguard. The battalion of sappers
increased to 9 regiments with 100 people in each.
Besides there was a separate transport battalion, that was consisted
of eight regiments. In 1812, the convoy was divided into 2 battalions
with 6 companies in each. There also was a spare coy.
Engineers’ train represented a company that included 128 people.
The gunners and the soldiers of other services took part in the war with Russia.
