The regiment has its origins in 1788.

He was deployed from Rgt. Chasseurs du Gevaudan (N 10).

Participated in the battles : Melon , Jena, Eylau , Tann Ekmyul , Regensburg, Essling , Wagram .
In the campaign in Russia attended the 1st , 2nd , 3rd , 4th and 6th battalions of the regiment.
To reinforce the regiment being in Russia from the depot of the regiment were sent to three companies of the 5th reserve battalion . They were in the first demi-brigade march 1st Brigade Marching Division Major-General Count Lagrange , and also after the main forces of the regiment crossed the border of the Russian Empire as part of the following units :

7 Regiment was part 1 - Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division General Count Charles Etienne Gudin , the First Army Corps Marshal Davout .
Regiment commanded by Colonel Jean Francois Rum . Under his command, was on June 25, 1812 - 107 3600 and officer ranks.
In Russian Companies regiment participated in the battles : near Smolensk Valutina mountain Borodino , Maloyaroslavets , red on the Berezina .
All five battalions took part in the Russian Companies were broken or destroyed.

After the company in 1812 the regiment took part in the battles : Kulm , Dresden , Magdeburg .
After the defeat of Napoleon's first abdication and the regiment was called Rgt de Colonel-General in the army of King Louis XVIII in 1814.
